Default viper 90 no spark??

OK have a viper 90, with no spark.. I've tried a new coil and new stator.. I am thinking of trying a CDI next. Is there some way to check to see if the CDI is in fact bad?? Thanks all....

Default viper 90 no spark??

I am having same problem with my 05 Viper 90. I have made a previous post about its problems but couldnt find it and have an update on its condition, and since arshooter is having same problem decided to post with theirs as maybe we can get some help. Ours wasnt starting, no spark. Took it to the shop and they proclaimed that the stator and coil was burned up. I took it out of that shop as the man was unprofessional and replaced the stator myself, but not the coil. After new stator, it has SOME spark, but was very small and yellow, not blue. So we took it to an Eton dealer and when he called he said the coil was fine, and that the voltage regulator the first shop had put on was bad (first shop said it was missing) bc they put one on and our headlights are now working again. He seems to believe the problem is in the fuel, that there was a lot of trash in the carbeurator. That the air filter was on wrong and it allowed all this crap to accumulate and that the air filter was damaged. Well for one, he is wrong there. The air filter was in good shape bc whe it first broke down thats what we checked, and we didnt put it on wrong, it only goes on one way, and after we put it back on it hasnt been ridden bc IT WOULDNT START!. And I dont see how having dirty fuel would cause it to not give spark?? They want to charge me $160 to clean out al fuel lines. As for the oil leak they want $160 to take off the top end to find it. Well HELLO you can definetly see it is coming from where the oil line goes behind the stator, so why do they have to take everything off?? It isnt the cdi, it was taken off and put on another bike and it started. I just dont know wether to let them clean out fuel lines? And if they say thats what it is, and I pay them the $160, what if it still doesnt start??

Default viper 90 no spark??

g`day fellas. first try a new plug if you have been using premium fuel. Premium fuel is for fuel injected engines and is more dense than regular unleaded, it fouls plugs. stator or coil failure is rare in e-tons and the regulator has nothing to do with spark. Sometimes its wiring damage. PS, find yourselves some new motorbike mechanics,

I agree find a new mechanic....All you have to do is pull the fuel line off of the carb and run it into a can or something to flush it out.Replace the filter if necessary....I sure wouldn't pay someone $160 bucks to do that!..Also the top end doesn't need to be taken off to check out the oil leak.Just pull off the plastic shroud over the fan and remove the flywheel and probably the stator and the oil pump will be right there. The oil line is probably loose.

We know the fuel filter is good, we have checked that. My husband threw a fit when I told him that they wanted to take off the top end to check the oil leak, but it did me too. We have already put out so much money, $50 for the first guy going through it, $100 for the stator, now we are going to owe the dealer $80 for going through it. When we had the stator off checking out the oil line, the finger clamp was loose, so we took it off, trimmed the end of line, put it back on, tightened the clamp and added a ziptie, now it is leaking more. But for the most part, I think it is bc I am a girl! Some mechanic sees a girl bringing something in, they say Wehoo! Lets take advantage!! Would any of this problem be in the wiring? When we had this guy look over it, he said there were some wires hooked together that looked "suspicious" and unhooked em. When we took it to the first shop, that guy said something about wires being hooked up wrong. I have the wiring diagram, but under all the Etons plastic, thats all there is is wires, how could I ever get it sorted out? And I know that some wires will not go to anything, bc ours doesnt ahve the tether switch and some other features. But when there are wires that are not used, is it standard for them to be hooked together? I mean, say for like the wires for the tether switch, say theres 2 of them, since we dont use them, should they be hooked together, or should they just be dangling? I dont know if that is clear enough to understand of what I am trying to ask.....lol
