Default SunL 70cc won't start

After reading some of the stuff in here, I'm thinking we got suckered buying this thing. Oh well, too late now.

Anyway, as the title says this SunL 70cc quad won't start. it used to start after long periods of cranking, but lately won't fire at all. We purchased it new last winter as a gift and it's started and been ridden about 3 or 4 times since then. So far it's just been a PITA and left to sit since it won't start well.

I took the body off and started to try and diagnose the issue. I previously had the carb off cleaned it out, but did not remove the screw in jets to clean behind them...my bad.

I picked up a new NGK plug and along with the stock plug, won't start with either. I checked for spark and that is fine, so my next guess is fuel?

Where do I start with checking the carb? I know it's getting fuel as when I took the carb off last time, the bowl was full. Float & needle/seat assembly looked fine...looks very similar in design to a tecumseh setup.

Could someone tell me the basic carb calibration settings? I may as well clean it out again and want to make sure it's set properly for initial start up.

Any and all help on this little P.O.S. would be greatly appreciated.
thanks
Todd Geisler

Doe's it by any chance have A remote kill switch? I found out that if you start it by the remote you must also stop it that way. If vice a versa if starting by the electric start. Don't ask me why I don't speak chinese.

i had that problem a couple times, it was the kill switch thing at the back, it got pulled off and i forgot to hook it back up, also i had one of mine where the throttle was barley on at all (for son's safety) and I thought i was giving it gas, but I wasn't, so i loosened the screw to give it more gas, if u have spark and gas it should run. tell us how u make out

I finally found some time to work on this ATV again. I pulled the carb and went through it again. I actually did clean all the jets out before after seeing it apart again this time.

I also drained the fuel out of the tank and put in fresh.

With some searching on this site, I found a few posts giving basic carb adjustment settings.

The idle speed screw was set at 4 to 5 turns out.

The mixture screw was 1/2 turn out.

I set both at 2 turns out and it fired right up to my surprise. Now with too fast idle it was wanting to move, so I lowered the idle till it would sit without creeping. It now starts well each time but feels like it may need some minor tweaks as it sometime stalls idling without the choke half closed. I'll tweak it some more, but at least it'll run now which is better than before.
