Default Kazuma Meerkat help please

Hi. We've had this ATV for about 8 months but it has less than 10hrs on it. We took it to the desert this weekend and the throttle stuck wide open with my son on it. Disaster was averted (he has some quick reflexes!) but when I shut it off, it would not start again. I shot some cleaner into the top of the carb, which I was told was a bad idea (after the fact). Nothing. I pulled the spark plug - there's spark. I shot ether into the intake. Nothing. It turns over, but will not start. Is there anything else I can try, or am I missing something? Thanks.

Welcome to the forums, ace. First thing, did you ever find the cause of the wide open throttle? Was it linkage or carb related? Carb cleaner was not a great idea, but hindsight is 20/20, right? I own one of these as well, and I know that the air intake hose is pretty crappy. It's possible you pulled some nice sand into the carb, and quite possibly into the cylinder. I think the first place I would start is to change the plug, tear the carb apart, and clean the entire thing, jets and everything removed. You pretty much eliminated the possibility of an electrical problem related to the kill switch, but how good is the spark you are getting?

Thanks for the welcome. The throttle issue was a result of the end of the throttle cable coming out of its seat. That problem I fixed almost right away. I pulled the carb apart and cleaned it yesterday. I have not yet changed plugs... I'll do that today - while I am getting spark, I don't know if its enough I guess.

Just curious: Did you ever get your issue resolved?

It's normally not a bad idea, but when you're in the sand, it's not a great idea.
