Default LT80 airbox mod

Can I drill a couple holes in the airbox up at the top near the plastic? My son never really rides through any water or mud so thats not an issue. I have a uni-filter, I was just wandering if it would give it better airflow.

Also is it possible to do away with the airbox altogether and clamp a piece of hose about 8 inches long on there and clamp a k&n filter to it. Ive seen kits like this for the 20mm carb setups. Once again water and mud are not an issue.

The air ducting has a job and it does it well.
You will gain nothing by modifying it.
