Default Thinking about a Chinese quad

I am thinking about buying a Maxam 2007 70cc kids quad for my 8 year old daughter............Myself I would only buy a chinese quad for kids ...Do to the fact they out grow them anyway.........When I was looking last year for two new ones for my wife and I, Chinese quads were out of the question........Didn't even look or think about them!!!!
I think Chinese quads should be bought for the kids only......The larger ones built for adults....Just will not cut it for me!!!!!!
That's my view on the topic.........Sorry about the guys/girls I p-off if you drive these quads......But one thing is for sure the Chinese quads are being built better each year........Few years back you never heard of Disc breaks on them..now it is common on most..........Thanks......Caper......When I searched for a quad I looked for:
4x4(true)
2x4 mode also
storage
IRS
disc brakes
liquid cooled
ground clearance
lighting
automatic
info guage pod
four stroke
trailer hitch
towing Cap.
Full floorboards
winch
...................Caper..........

At the end of the day it may be all about the balance between price and how much time you will have available to tweak them. We had two Kazumas and they weren't too good, mainly due to carb problems and chintzy parts. The smaller (50 cc Meerkat) was the worst, but even the bigger (150 Dingo) had problems - and that was with VERY little use. So, we got rid of them and bought a (Taiiwanese) Eton Viper 90R (fourstroke with REVERSE), which has a 190 lb. rider capacity. However, the cost was $2400 Canadian (about 2 grand Yankee money), which is a lot more than $1600 or $1700.

Also, check out the parts that the dealer has on hand, because he or she may not stock a lot. I also suspect that you would get good service because the dealer is very close by, and best of all, is a Newfie!

Do try and find out what factory makes the quads, however, as there are lousy ones and good ones, and the webiste you gave does not indicate much.

Finally, check out some of the other Chinese quad threads on this forum - there is some absolutely excellent advice.

Best of luck eh?

I bought a barely used chineese atv from a friend cheap. It seems to be pretty reliable. Ive jumped with it and ridden in long and hard with no fail.
A bearing whent aut in the gearbox, i had to take it apart find the prob then i realized finding this bearing was a pain in the rear. I called around to some motercycle repair shops and found someone who works on them all the time. Finding parts can be harder than a name brand one but with a little patence the parts are out there and if u cant find them them take it to a local repair shop thats willing to work on these and there will be no probs. This is the viva 200 cc four stroke sport type and i really have a lot of fun on this thing. My kids love it my 9 year old is already doing wheelies and tricks on it.Against my wishes but hes good at it lol so i wont stop him. the parts do exist. these china atv's are a good choice for people who are just using them for recreational use and not abusing them. the cost of the name brand ones for a family of 5 like mine is just too expensive. these china made ones work well for families like mine.Take the stickers off n change a few parts n no one has to know ur riding one lol.
