Default Brake replacement

Hey All,
My son has a '01 Eton dxl90. I need to replace the rear brakes. I have never worked on the brakes before but I replaced the starter with no problems. Is there any special tools required to change the shoes. I tried a google search and came up with nothing.
Thanks in advance
Dan

Not sur what kind of brakes it has but here's the basics on changing disc brakes. It's for a car, but the fundamentals are the same for disc brakes on anything.

Thanks for the info, I have changed brakes on vehicle's before. These are brake shoes for the rear and I was worried more about when I open the housing on the rear if anything I needed to watch for. Anything popping out or some kind of seal that needed to be removed or replaced. Basically just what to expect when opening the rear housing.

If they're drum, watch for springs. I don't recall seeing any kind of seal on the housings.
