Baja 150 & Baja 90
#1
Recently bought a Baja 150 and Baja 90 from a local PepBoys. Cheap, but fun. Now that we've been riding them for a while, I'm wondering what I can do to them to up the performance a little, if that's even possible on these cheap quads. I especially interested in what can be done to the 150, as when my older daughter is not riding it, that's the one I ride. My younger son rides the 90, so I'm not in too much of a hurry to mess with that one. :-) Any links to any info on these quads would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I've been reading some of the threads here and at other places, and they all mention a governer on the 90 that can be disconnected. They all say it's under the rear fender opposite the pipe. I've looked there on my 90, and I don't see anything like that. Did they get rid of it in newer builds?
Does the 150 (recreation) have a governer I can disconnect?

the baja 150 rec does not have a rev limiter on it. a couple things that you can do is put some spacers on the rear axle, it seems a bit narrow. go to a liter tire the stocks are really stiff, unless you ride in rough areas. the engine is a gy6 and there is a lot of gy6 hop up stuff out there

What about oil? I know that I am supposed to change the oil after the first 20 miles or so to get out all the break-in junk, but what oil should I use? The manual seems to suggest 10W-30 for my client (I live on the central coast of CA), but the guys at Pep Boys where I bought it said they put in 5W-30. And, I've seen differing opinions on synthetic vs. regular. Any ideas?
