Default 07 SunL Typhoon 110 cc 4 stroke

We just bought a SunL Typhoon 110 from a local seller. Green Camo. Says "Typhoon 110a" on it. I noticed this quad came in 3 speed semi ato or full auto. I probably would have gotten the 3 spd semi auto but they only had auto at the time. I don't think anyone at home is disappointed.

The kids have put probably 2 hours on it today. They were excited. I plan on updating this thread on how it is with problems and such. As you can never have enough information. If anyone has any questions, ask away.

The is a problem with it already, but minor. The clamp that holds the seat in place keeps coming undone... Maybe not a stong enough spring.

Anyway... it is way more fun for them than the Yamaha Raptor 50 they were riding. The suspension is not bad, it can handle our small backyard jumps much better than the raptor 50. It does donuts great. The power seems adequate. The light works well for riding at night. The reverse is awesome.. I have pushed machines out of the sand a bunch, so I appreciate the reverse. Top speed? I don't know... They claim somewhere between 25 to low 30's. I think it is plenty fast for my kid's age group which is 9 & 10. The Raptor 50 topped out at only 12mph... So they are very happy.

Glad to hear you like your typhoon. My 6 year old also has a green camo 110 but his is fully auto. I put 2" wheel spacers on the back it makes it as wide as the front. Also put a 26mm performance carb with high flow air filter on it. Use a ngk plug and it will make a big difference. you can also take the baffel out of the exhaust. His will run about 38 mph on hard packed dirt. he likes to jump his (2 to 3 feet of ground) and it has held up very well. 40 to 50 hours of riding and no problems except a broken taillight.

UPDATE: We have ran one tank of gas through it now.

Problems: Bolts vibrating loose like crazy! We lost one exhaust manifold bolt. The intake manifold bolt vibrated almost completely out, but we caught that one before it went bye bye. The Vent hose fell off the gas cap and is gone. Then yesterday it just died while they were riding and would not restart. I went to bed mad. Feeling like: everyone warned me to buy Japanese... Ugh. Anyway, It ended up being that the lanyard kill switch plug located at the rear of the quad had vibrated partially loose, making it not start, as if the lanyard was pulled off.

Good things: My kids have been having a ball! They are riding this one way more than they ever rode the Raptor 50. They love to jump it and do donuts. So far no turn overs. But they have been riding dirt bikes for 3+ years, and are respectful of what off road machines can do if you are careless. We have had the conversations daily about solwing for cornering, how to properly lean for cornering, and just using common sense... I bought some BLUE Loctite and am planning on using it on many bolts.

Any advice on what bolts can be blue loctite'ed?

Furthermore, I think I would like to disable the remote and kill switch. None of our machines have had this and I just see them as a headache. I see how they would be very good for parents of younger and more inexperienced riders. Has anyone disabled these switces? And where is the best place to buy wheel spacers?

Good luck getting PARTS for ANY SUN-L product.. Our local dealer has had trouble for the last two years getting parts for most of their Junk-L products, but he refuses to quit selling them because he buys them for next to nothing from Sun-L.

I can tell you of NUMEROUS dealers that USE to sell Junk-L products, but they have ceased selling them because of reliability and part issues.

Price dont matter IF you cant get PARTS.Be VERY careful JUMPING these Junk-L quads, we've seen ALOT of BUSTED frame welds.

Good luck.

Bill

You can loctite any bolts you want. I loctite all the small bolts on plastic bodywork and swing arm bolts. I do this on all my own atvs

devastator85 I think your the one being rude. Mudd didn't critisize anyone, you did. People post here for help. My son was riding on flat ground down the driveway when the rear axle snapped in 2 and the rear tire past him. Of course the chain broke when the axle broke which broke the front spocket and the engine case. Lucky the atvs rear end just dropped down in the dirt and come to a stop and the flying chain wheel and axle missed him on the way by. Send your comments to Sunl, not here, why so Sunl can ignore your comments and people here can't read the truth. Buying crappy parts from ebay for a crappy atv doesn't make much sense either.

Devastator 85,
and I could really care LESS what you think of my post. Its OBVIOUS that you are a SUN-L ROOKIE in here.. There has been NUMEROUS dissatisified customers that made JUNK-L purchases in the past and HAVE indeed called Sun-L, ONLY to get the RUN-AROUND from them. Do a SEARCH of Sun-L products in this very site before you embarrass yourself further.

Thanks Bill... I will keep an eye on the welds... Although the jumps I am talking about are very small.
