I came across this site which has pictures, and descriptions of the carborator / intake dissassembly of a LT-A50 (2 stroke model). I found it informative, and thought others might too:

Im having problems with my sons LTA50 (2003). It was working fine but when I was away working my father in law decided to take the kids out on it. I was told when he 1st tried it he couldn't even pull the cord as though it had seized. Then he eventually did get it going but they were running about on it with it in the prime position. Could this have done much damage as it now its barely pulling off.
I had a look at the plug which was pretty black rather than the tan colour you'd be looking for. Too rich. Cant even get it started now

I'd do a compression test.
FYI: resurecting a ancient thread sometimes don't work. Please try making a new thread and hopefully more ppl will chime in.
