Default LT80 won't idle without choke on... any help?

Ok, So I took the entire carb apart, dropped to a 90 main jet (had a 92.5 in there). It has a DG pipe on it and now the bike will only run and start with the choke on. It won't idle or start with the choke off. Nothing else done to this bike. Also I bought a pro design kill switch for this thing and under the hood (where I have a light) I found a red and black wire coming from the motor. It has a splice in it where a male and female wire come in. I disconnected it and put my pro design kill switch in line with that so from the motor it goes up and through the kill switch and back down to the red and black wire. But when I have the kill switch connected it won't fire. Any help?

THanks everyone.

And also the bike runs great with the choke on. When I take the choke off it runs good on top end but when I let it idle it wants to die and when you go to stab the throttle with the choke off it falls on it's face and dies. Any help?

thanks

Yes I just took carb apart again and cleaned out the pilot jet. I could see through it and all the way through the hole into the carb after I installed it (into the cylinder of the carb). Cleaned out the main jet again and still it will only turn over with the choke on. I let the bike idle for 10 minutes put the rear end up and revved it a bit and got the motor temp up. turned the bike off and bike still won't start without the choke on even after warm. The carb is very sensitive, when I adjust the idle screw even 1/8 to 1/4 of a turn the bike will just die and even if I hold the throttle wide open with air filter boot on the carb and off the carb, same situation. any other suggestions? Are there more than the two jets I need to clean out. I didn't take out the float bowl valve (part the float shuts off to stop fuel from coming in). I did take the float off and cleaned all the parts but didn't pop out the part mounted to the carb (sorry don't know official name).

You mentioned the quad will not idle or start unless the choke is on, if the choke is limiting incoming air this tells me you don't have enough fuel delivery, you mentioned you dropped from a 92.5 to a 90 main jet, What made you do this?
The quad sounds like it is running way to lean during the 1st half of the throttle range, everything is pointing to the idle jet? or a large airleak around the carb or intake. With the quad running at at the lowest rpms' you can maintain, spray wd-40 or carb cleaner around the carb and intake, if you hear the rpm's change you found an airleak.
If you go to "how stuff works" and search "carbeurator" it will break down the idle jet, main jet and wide open throttle operations of the carb, this realy helps me chase carb problems especially if I am putting on after market performance parts.

Good Luck,

OK, Took carb apart again, cleaned everything. Made sure all seals were on carb (little rubber ring to carb boot), tightened all bolts back down and still same problem. Should I go back to the 92.5 jet... is it jetting?

What controls idle? is it needle set or pilot jet? my pilot jet I believe is a 25... is that too large? Any more help would be appreciated. Thanks

It's time to check the compression.
You been into the carb plenty. Unless the air passages are plugged, it's not the carb.

You said you went from a 92.5 jet to a 90, which means your leaning it out more.
If you're having to run the choke you are having to richen the circuit. I wwould go back to the 92.5 main and also see what pilot jet you have and get a bigger pilot jet to richen the idle circuit.

he said it runs with the choke. the 2.5 diffrence in main jet wount make that much diffrence. he said it runs great at high rpm wich would mean the main is fine. Im with lt80. if no compression wont idle. with the choke on it runs becouse its giving more gas to spark. ever do the test when you do a compression test then put oil n the cyl. and it raises the compression. its kinda doing that.
my 2 cents even though its only worth 1 cent I hope it helps

thanks
