Dumb question
Guys,
I am the type that learns on the go.. Where can I find the stator on an Eton/Alpha Sport? Also where can I get one ASAP cause headed out to the desert Friday!. I've narrowed my problem down to CDI which i have and will be replacing tomorrow or the Stator. I think thats the problem cause my quad wont seem to hold a full battery charge. It'll last about 10 starts and then thats it. Would that be my culprit also since it dies once I give it gas? It idles just fine. Thanks

I haven't heard of this problem but one other thing that you could check is the voltage regulator. It should be behind the front grill. The stator should be just inside of the flywheel, but I haven't heard of alot of these going bad. I'm sure there are alot of places to buy one but I have ordered from Anythingatv.com. They have most everything for Etons.

Hmmm. I don't think spark is the issue if it is idling. Are you sure the carb is adjusted properly, and the air cleaner doesn't have a mouse nest in it? You may find that if the gas sat in the carb for a couple months, everything is sticky and you may need to do a rebuild or at least take it apart and spray some carb cleaner in there to free up all the needle valves. Especially the float valve.
Holding a charge can be several issues too. Have you checked your battery for a short? Wiring shorts? Perhaps a bad ground somewhere... A lot of things that cost nothing to check... but time.
