KCzukimzan,
I heard from xo back in the fall. Seems all is still well out there. I always envy him when I think of how he can ride his quad to the store ! I wish we could tag these things in TX. I would would ride it to town with pleasure. We have 3 of them parked out back now. My grandaughter is coming down from Ohio for the summer so I expect lots of racing with the grandson will be going on then. Man, wish they had these when I was a kid!

I am hoping someone could help. I also have the hibird 250ST (the 06 model). I just started jumping with the quad and a couple of times the chain has fallen off. I looked at the alignment of the chain and it looks straight and it is tight so any ideas would be welcome.
Also when driving on the road, it vibrates pretty bad (almost to the point of shaking) when I get to the higher speeds (high 3rd to low 4th). the back tires are 17lbs and the fronts are ~20. The alignment looks pretty straight so I am not sure.
3rd quick question - I don't care about top end speed to much (4th gear seems to bog down to much anyways. I think I would like to go down 2 in the front sprocket and up 6 in the back. I am hoping this should give me more lower end. Any problems with this that you can see and anyone know where I can get HI bird or equivilent sprockets?

sammy626,
I think you'll find just going up in the rear will be easiest to get lower gearing. The front sprockets are hard to find. But the rears are common to most of these quads. You should find one that will work at any good motorcycle shop. Chain pitch and width will match up easy enough and bolt patterns can be re drilled if needed. As for your vibration problems put the axle up on stands and let it run while the tires are in the air. I'd bet you'll find something is bent. These axles aren't strong enough to withstand much jumping. Also I have found that the best air for these is about 7-10 pounds in the rear. And 10-12 in the front. If you have them too stiff they don't flex as well in jumps or cornering. Your chain probably feels tigh when at rest. But when you come down on a jump it will compress and that all changes. Suport the bike and take off the rear shock. then lower the bike as if the shock is compressing, about 4 inches. See if the chain tightens or loosens. Too much of either one can cause it to jump off. If your axle is bent you need to get a stiffer one for jumping. Call raceway, i bet he can fix you up. Have fun!!

It was because XO's excellent report on his Tornado 200 that made me decide to buy my wife one & bought myself a Hurricane 250. We, as well as my son's, have ridden the hell out of both of these machines. My son's are 27 & 29 years old, so they are men. The units have held up great. Got them from Motorxtremes in Oklahoma & shipped free to me in Tennessee. I assembled them & they fired right up. They both still have the original China batteries & still start right up. Have had them for 6 months & have ridden them hard with no problems. My 27 year old son used to own a Yamaha Banshee & can't believe how well these things are built for the money. We are very pleased with both our machines & thank XO for his thorough report.

smb6622, Sounds as if your clutch needs to be adjusted also (just the opposite way of Junkmans) I'm assuming if you put yours into 1st with no break on it clunks and seems to want to move forward. There is an adjuster nut set up on the cable located on top of the (I believe) right engine side cover. You adjust the two nuts on the cable down there one way to activate the clutch sooner when you release the clutch lever and the other way will give you a little more play from the Hand grip to when the atv begins to move forward (this is what you need) when you release the lever.

Man the power I lost on the clutch needing adjusting. After adjusting the clutch was like putting NOS to it. Now I tore it up doing donuts so fast it got on 2 wheels and rolled over. But it'll be back together soon. Thank you all for the help and comments.
