Vbike 250 FRONT Sprocket change
Coloradotrailrider,
Do a google search for a JTF259.13 as this should fit your Vbike V4S front sprocket. This is a 13 tooth sprocket for a 428 chain, and if you have the standard 40 tooth rear sprocket then a change from a 14 tooth front to a 13 tooth will change your gear ratio from a 2.86 to a 3.08 gear ratio......................Slydog

Vbike 250 FRONT Sprocket change
Hey Balanis03, I think the size of the Vbike and the Jet 250s are about the same size or very close.
Slydog, I counted the teeth and I have a 15 tooth front and 46 tooth rear. I thought I had a 14 tooth front, the first thing to go is the mind .
Anyways do you guys think a drop from 15 teeth to 13 teeth would be to much, or would a 15 to 14 tooth change be a little better. I won't be using the ATV for speed but for trailriding with lots of rocks to navigate, hence slow speed.
So would the sprocket number be JTF259.14 if I went with a 14 tooth?
Thanks guys, colorado.

With 46 in the rear and 15 in the front that is actually a really good power combo and gives you a gear ratio of 3.07. With 14 it would be 3.29, and the 13 tooth would be 3.54 gear ratio. To give you an idea the Taotao I have has 15 front with 40 rear and that gives you 2.67 gear ratio, which is very high geared for speed and no low end. I will be installing a 13 tooth to get me to 3.08 gear ratio, basically what you have now on your V4S.
I would say if you don't ride on the road and just on trails with hills etc. the 13 tooth with a 46 rear will give you lots of low end torque for climbing those hills. And yes the part number JTF259.xx with xx being your tooth count is what you need to order for the front.
I'll PM you a source for those JTF259.xx sprockets......................Slydog

Thanks a bunch slydog, both stores have them. I'm thinking the 13 tooth, I really like the low end slow rock crawl. If that turns out to low then I could always order the 14, they seem to be cheap enough.
I need to look at my father inlaws 200cc Hibird front sprocket also, that thing is is geared way to high for 1st and reverse. If I know him he will be stalling it all day in them big hills out here.

Yeah at what the sprockets cost it's a very cheap fix for more low end power, so I even ordered a 12 and a 13 as my rear sprocket is so small being 40 tooth, and I really don't want to change the rear sprocket if the front sprocket will get my gearing where I want it.
Glad you found what you needed..........................Slydog

Maybe your right Kman, I might be getting ahead of myself. I havn't even had it out on any hills yet. I guess I could decide after my inagural run in the mountains this Spring. From what i've seen and heard the Vbike sure has a good gear ratio, thanks to slydogs info.

Well my Jetmoto 250 has a 14 and 42 in the rear and has a gear ratio of 3.00 i went ahead and ordered a 12 tooth for the front just cause its easier to intstall than the rear. with this combination i get 3.50 gear ratio. I have gone through some steep hills that were rocky and it performs really good but struggles when it soft dirt. Thats why i want more low end . Have you guys heard of anyone putting sand paddles in the rear on these 250s? I thinking about it just want to see how the 12 tooth performs for me out here since the riding is more soft dirt than anything. Plus there at least $200 for rims and tires and kind of expensive. Did you guys adjust the rear shock from the stock setting? Im wondering if i should adjust it cause its a little stiff but not sure how much to adjust????
