Default LT80 Help.

Got the LT80 all back together today.. cleaned the carb, air filter, and tank, new fuel lines, spark plug, new battery, new starter relay. Choke on, petcock on prime, hit the button, fired instantly. Idled well for about 20 seconds and died. Shut off the choke, started it back up but wouldnt idle. I had the back tires off the ground so I reved it out a few times but it still wouldn't idle and died again... and thats it. Wont even pop now. (I'm running premix, no oil pump)

I have spark. Plug is wet though. Smells of gas. Cylinder was full of fuel. I pulled/ dried the plug and blew out the gas twice, but nothing. Compression is 125. Petcock is leaking so I do need a shut off or a new one. Carb issue???Theres no fuel filter, Should I clean the carb again ??? Thanks in advance.

At least it looks cool!

Default LT80 Help.

get a lawn mower shut off, a little filter, and a foot of gas line. I got mine from farm and fleet. 8.00. same problem I had. gas is leaking through the needle and filling up the cyl. also adjust the throttle screw to set idle. see if you can start with thumb on throttle

Default LT80 Help.

Did you remove the float needle and seat to clean?
Does the needle have a bad wear spot on it?

Default LT80 Help.

I took the carb back apart and the float needle was stuck. It looks smooth as far as wear. I did take it apart when I cleaned it, but it has been sitting dry a few months since I cleaned it. There was some grit in the pilot jet areas too. Obviously I didnt get the tank as clean as I thought.

I cleaned the carb again and sprayed it with Seafoam. I also ordered a Banshee petcock to replace my leaky stock one and got a in-line fuel filter. I also have a new piece of carb vent hose and ordered one of the little UNI air filters for the vent hose.

What do you use to plug or cap the vaccuum hole on the carb? I used the toothpick trick on the oil injection hole. Nice!
