Default Kazuma 150 air filter

On my Kazuma 150 Falcon, it has an air filter that looks like this

which is covered in a sponge material. the filter has an oval end that protrudes out of the air filter box, and is then connected to the rubber intake hose that leads to the carb.

The problem is that there is nothing to keep the air filter from being pished back into the box, so theres no way to get the rubber intake hose onto the oval filter end once the air box is assembled. When I took the intake hose off to inspect (prior to disassembling/cleaning the filter), the filter was turned around inside the air box and not even connected to the hose. After disassembling the box and trying to reassemble, I see why. The rubber hose WILL insert properly to the air box, but the ffilter itself is not able to be inserted into the intake hose, thereby defeating the purpose of the filter. Basically, the filter is doing nothing but bouncing around inside tthe box, with NO actual filtration taking place.

What am I missing?

I would ditch that air box and go with a uni-pod (Rocky Mt. atv) 1 3/4 x 5in.) Get the wrap also and you will be happy every time you need to clean it!
