Default VIVA ATV150PR

I just ordered an ATV150PR. The PR apparently stands for Predator.
ATV150PR
just wondering if anyone has one of these. They are made by VIVA as is the
Gorilla 150
I called to order the Gorilla, but the salesguy said the Predator is actually a bit better. They basically have the same engine and are almost exactly the same size. I thought the Gorilla would be a bit larger because of the slightly bigger tires, but he said not really. He says the Predator is a better seller for them as they primarily supply dealers and they don't have as many issues with the PR. He said both were very good sellers though and it was just his opinion that the PR was a bit better. Does anyone own either if these and what is your opinion of them??

it's a small atv for a 150 58" x 33"x 32.5" with a seat height of 29". now i'm comparing it to our grandkids hi bird 110's with diamensions of 61" x 36" x 36" with seat height of 32". the hi birds are just the right size for our 9-10 year old grandkids, so i'm thinking depending on your size this might be on the small size for you. all chinese 150's with automatics transmission use the same engines, these are the honda clone GY6, very reliable, good on flat ground, not much a hill climber, no torque, depending on the manufacture lies, H.P. veries from 9.8-12. top speed should be right around 30-31mph,
i know you already order it, did you kook at the hibird 150? dimensions are 64" x
36"x 36" price is $949 deliveredhi birds

The Predator 150 looks like an older style, (pre '07 ). The pictures show it has the reverse gear on the rear axle which has always been a problem. The Gorilla 150 looks like a newer model with reverse in the motor which is the new design and is more reliable. I think you talked to a salesman that wanted to get rid of old stock because they are harder to sell. And the larger tires are a real plus. I think Coolster offers the 150 utility with 23' tires all around!

Ok, now I'm depressed. NO, I didn't see the Hi-bird 150. I would have bought that. I'm gonna call these ppl 1st thing in the am and see if it was shipped yet.
As far as the reverse gear being on the rear axle...When I look at that pic of the rear axle I see a sprocket and what appears to be a drum brake. The description claims it to have a disk brake on the rear. That leads me to think it is a picture of an older model. Is it the lever on the right side that makes you think it has the reverse gear on the rear axle? I'm just asking, I'm not sure what exactly you're looking at. I know most of these 150 automatics have a reverse lever like that on the right side of the fuel tank.
As far as the size. I actually got this for my 10 year old. I bought him a SUNL 110 semi-auto and he hated shifting. (pics are in my profile) I paid $600 for that and sold it for $850. So, I decided to go a bit bigger and fully auto for him this time, and I only had to throw an extra $150 towards it. soooo, maybe the size will be ok for a 10 year old for now. I was hoping he could use it for 3 or 4 years anyway.
I hope I didn't make a big mistake buying this thing. (although, If he doesn't like it, maybe I can sell it and make another $250 profit)

Actually the Viva ATV150PR has the Drum brake with the reverse gear installed on the output shaft. The Gorilla has the reverse gear on the rear axle. The Viva 150PR they sold Howmon is the a little better than the Gorilla but not much.

Personally I would not touch another quad with the reverse gear on the rear axle, it is the worst design and very easy to break.

Both companies are using older style axles. The rear disc brake system is the way to go. I bet the manufactures decided to put new style plastics on their older style frames and suspensions.

Both bikes are out dated.

Howmon if you can cancel the order and buy something else.

SB.

Hey Howman,

Sorry to mislead you. I never saw a drum brake on the back axle before and thought it was the the reverse gear. Sounds like you did buy the best of the two and I wish you only the best with your choice.

OK, I did get a hold of them today. They did already ship it out. I did try to get some answers to some questions brought up here.
I asked about the Picture of the rear brakes and asked why it says disk and has a drum in the pic. They claim it DOES have a rear disk. The guy I spoke to claimed to have rode both, the Gorilla looks at a glance to be bigger, but its just because it has a bit bigger tires. The bigger tires give it a bit more top speed, but the smaller 17 and 18 inch tires on the Predator give it faster acceleration and better hill climbing ability. (makes sense) The forward/reverse gearbox is located on the output shaft of the transmission as smb05 said. But it's like this on all Chinese automatic ATVs that I have seen. This is how my Commando 250 is set up. The ones with the manual transmissions have the reverse gear in with the rest of the transmission. That is how my Hi-Bird 250st is.
I'm done stressing out about this thing. I will however give you all a full review of it when it arrives and we get it together. Thats why a forum like this is so important. It's easy for people to say that Chinese quads are crap. I would agree that they are not as well made as the bikes from Japan. But here we can weed out the OK from the truly worthless. We can help each other and learn from each others blunders.
It was supposed to take 5 days to get here (PA) from California. We shall see. I'll post a review when it comes.
Thanks everyone for the help.
