Default Eton 70 4 stroke problem

Good evening,

I have an issue with a 2007 Eton 70 4 stroke we just bought used for our son. It will start and idle badly. When you try to throttle it up, it dies. Things I have done so far to troubleshoot it (not in a particular order);

1. New CDI
2. Adjust air screw back to 1 1/2 half turns
3. New gas in tank
4. Made sure vent tube was clean
5. Made sure there are no gabs between carb and intake
6. Cleaned spark arrestor
7. New fuel filter
8. Fresh air filters

Any other ideas? I took it to a local dealer and he couldn't figure it out. There are no Eton service centers within 100 miles so everyone is a shade tree mechanic here. I did notice that when the carb to intake seal was a little loose and allowing air in, the ATV would throttle up and start moving a little. This tells me it might be starving for air vice fuel. Everything is pointing to the carb, but before I go down that road, what do you fine people think? Options? Ideas? Thanks in advance!!!

sounds like it is your carb, you will have to take it completely apart to perform a proper cleaning.

Did you take the nozzle out and clean it as well as the main jet. I don't mean any disrespect but it does really sound like a carb issue. With the nozzle and main jet plugged it would still idle because that is your pilot jet, 1 and 1/2 turns seems like alot but I am really only familiar to 2 strokes. I think we run 3/4 turns out.
Let us know what you figure out

Thanks for the reply, Yes I took it completely apart and cleaned it. I took it to a dealer now, so we will see what they say it is next week.

Well guys,

A week at the dealership, and even they still can not figure this problem out... I am sure they will charge me an arm and a leg now and have accomplished nothing more than selectively interchanging parts until they get lucky one day....

Hotblooded might be correct. I have an 06 Viper 90R 4 cylce and had a lot of problems. So many I could of payed for a new one after all of the repairs. When it was new it would not run and die took it back to the dealer several times and they replaced the carb under warr. get it home the same thing. Went to a small shop by me and he adjusted the choke cable and it ran great until all of the other problems started. Still runs good as far as the carb. goes.
