Default looking for a 50cc ATV need help!

I currently have a 110cc Gio for my son that is 4 and he does ok with it but I think would do better on a 50cc for a yr.
The 110 we have adjusted down so it only goes slow but then their is no power and Im constantly pushing him over a bump! Havent got around to switching the gears in it to give it more power, but plane to next summer.
Other than that the ATV is great, but still would rather see him master a 50 first, he just seems to be too nervous and doest listen very good either! The size is just a little big for now.

SOOOO my question is what 50 do I get? something that is reliable, has some power, can limit the speed, and smaller than the 110.

I seen a 90cc Cheetah for $500 on the net used, what do you think of these?

Thanks

just my opinio, keep the 110 and just change the front spocket to a smaller size. minium 1 tooth but if you can then 2 teeth would be better for this situation. this way he will have lower gearing, you'll be able to turn up the thottle for more power and he will be able to climb over the bumps with no problem, one thing you need to remember all engines no matter what size or what engine it is has a power band, this is the rpm range where the engine produces the power and torque, so having the 110 thottle stop turned in all the way this engine isn't even close to being into the powerband, and thats the reason why it trouble climbing over bumps, the 50cc will be the same way if the thottle going to be turned down. the only way buying a 50cc quad will solve your problem if the 110 is way to big for him but as far as engine performance and climbing over bumps you'll be better off with the 110cc.

Not sure where you are located, but I have a Kazuma 50 mint that my 7 year old outgrew. My 5 year old wanted a dirt bike so I bought him one and plan on getting my 7 year old a 110 Jet Moto this week. The local dealer said it would give me $300 for a trade. I just put a new good (not chinese) battery in the Kazuma, new spark plug, adj the carb and changed the oil to synthetic. The Kazuma has barely been ridden since new, but now outgrown. Would sell outright for $350; located in IA.

I wish I was closer, we are in Ontario (Canada)!!

That is a pretty good deal, I pd $500 for our 110 gio last spring and I see them used for $600 all the time. One guy is selling them for $1000 new, I email him and told him he was nuts but he probably is selling the odd one to guys who dont know where to pick them up cheaper. Mine was off ebay delivered from BC for $500.

Is that 110 fully auto? if so just change your srings and weights in the clutch. Sorry if it is a dumb question I am not familiar with this one.

Yes the 110 is fully auto. I might just try that to see its any better for him. He was out on it quite a bit this last week and is getting more confident and is getting a better grasp on the fact you have to slow down a little before you turn so who knows maybe he will be at full throttle before snow flies!

Even if thats the case it does need more bottom end power, it just seems like until your going half throttle it wont climb an ant hill!

Thanks guys

one problem here, it's not a cvt transmission, it doesn't have a variator so it doesn't use weights nor does it have a clutch spring to replace, the only way for cleotucker to gain more low end performance on this chinese quad is to replace the eaither the countershaft spocket or the rear spocket.
