Default LT 80

I just pourchased a used LT80 and it did not come with a manuel. I opened the throttle cable housing located at the top of the handle bars and noticed the throttle only opens about 1/3 of the way. The guy I purchased the ATV from removed the governor (throttle) bolt and was unaware why the ATV did not perform any better then it did.

Is there any way to adjust the throttle so it will fully open?

Pull the cap off the carb and see if there is a brass sleeve in there, that limits the slide travel, just like the limit bolt in the throttle housing. Another limiter is a washer at the exhaust port to limit exhaust and lower hp output. Some even had a spacer in the driven clutch to prevent it from full operation to limit top speed.

I also got a old LT 80 and when it heats up it looses power... what steps should I take on this... rebuild? It starts great and runs strong all the way till its up to temp, then it runs for poo.

I would say for your best answers, look up our resident LT80 guru, Jack (aka LT80 on the forums) if he can't help you, you're in a world of hurt !!
