need help with electric start issue 100cc atv
#1
I have a 2004 QJ Commando 100cc that will not start by push button. However if i jump posts on starter solenoid together with screwdriver it will start. It will also start by kick starting. I have replaced the starter solenoid to no avail. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The solenoid needs to have 12 volts across the two small wires for the solenoid to pull in and short the two big terminals together, just like you did with your screwdriver. Your problem appear to be that you aren't getting the 12 volts to the small wires on the solenoid.
I'm not familiar with your specific quad, but they all are similar in design. To apply 12 volts to the solenoid coil (small wires) several things have to happen all together. You need to have the ignition switch on, the start button pushed, the 12 volt fuse not blown, and some sort of safety switch closed, and all of the wiring hooking these devices together intact.
The safety switch on automatic transmission is usually the brake switch. This keeps the quad from starting unless the brake is pushed, which keeps the quad from lurching forward and hitting someone and/or something. On manual transmissions it is sometimes a neutral switch.
Look at all these devices and verify they are working. Look especially hard at the wires and connectors to these devices. Chinese connectors are awful.
