Chinese ATV rear axle problems
#11
Hi
Thanks for the pics. I have attached my pics of the complete assy. Looking at 8627, on the left side of the housing. My problem is this. When tightening the axle nut, at the wheel, everything moves toward the housing. The shaft of the chain sprocket goes into the axle seal, and chews up the seal when the ATV is running. The shaft is ribbed, not smooth. It doesn't look like it was designed to fit into, or up against the seal. In addition, once I tighten everything up, the chain sprocket is not lined up with the sprocket on the engine.
So, how does this all fit together?
Two of the new axles that I have received, have come with the shaft loose, I taped the shaft and bearings back into place.
Dave, can you enclose 1 more picture, this one showing from the housing to the wheel?
Thanks for all the help. As you can see, this thing looks brand new. It has only gone 100 feet since bought, last fall.

Here are 5 more to look at.
I hope you can figure out what the problem is after checking these pic's.
Almost seems like a small spacer is missing between the chain sprocket and the axle housing ?
I don't see any splines showing on these 110 pics.

Hi Dave
That looks like exactly the problem. My next step is to try and find a dealer in Canada who has a basic knowledge of parts. The one that I am dealing with will not answer any emails unless I am ordering parts.
Thanks for the pictures.

Hi Rick
I purchased my 250 Gio. through ATVs, Dirt Bikes, (Mini)ATV, Dirt Bike Parts Canada, Dune Buggies, Electric Scooters, Cheap (Mini)ATVs, 4x4 ATVs Canada Vancouver Nanaimo Victoria Toronto Calgary Edmonton Montreal Winnipeg | GIO . A Canadian Dealer in July of 2008
After about 4 months I needed a replacement engine which was covered under their
warranty.
I dealt with a fellow named Jon Dem who was very helpful. You can contact him at allstarsalez@telus.net
Hopefully you are not already dealing with him.
You could try to get your dealer to replace the whole rear-end, under warranty. Your
quad is almost brand new. Rather than just trying to get that spacer.
Almost seem like it got missed during assembly.
The attached pic shows your problem area.

Hi Dave
Sorry, I have been out of town for a few days. Unfortunately, it is ALL Star who I have been dealing with. They are good at sending warranty parts, but not too good at supplying info. Now the ATV is over warranty. I did get a few axle housing assy's, but they were not made too well, and couldn't be used. They didn't come with the spacers, beside I didn't know I needed them until now. I found an ATV dealer in Brandon MB, who is pretty sharp. I looked at a few of his Chinese ATVS and their axles are threaded and use large nuts to hold everything in place. I think I will order one for mine. It looks sturdier. If that doesn't work, I will order parts from All Star.
Thanks for all the help and pictures, everyone. Hopefully I will get this fixed.

Hi Rick
Hopefully the ATV dealer in Brandon will have axles that will work for you.
Another idea is to have a machine shop make the spacer that you need.
I can get you the approx. dimensions of the spacer.
What is the web address of the Brandon ATV dealer?
Always good to have lots of options.

Hey mwq.
Yes, I have calipers.
I will get some measurements and draft up a diagram of the part later tonight.
Not sure of the exact inside dia. without taking the alxe apart.
Perhaps Rick can get you that.

It's just a simple spacer.
As this is a chinese Quad. the part is more that likely a metric size.
I will give you the standard size as well.
Outside dimensions are 30mm in dia. by 8mm in length.
The inside dia. Approx size is 26mm.
In standard sizes, 1-3/16" by 5/16" in length.
Inside dia. 1-1/16" approx.
I think this is a great option for RickandMarlene.
