Default gear oil leaking from ports

Hi, I recently purchased a used 2stroke eton xtl50 for my son. Got it all working now. The problem is that gear oil keeps leaking. I'm pretty sure I'm over filling it but it's not leaking from the over flow tube. The over flow tube is supposed to drain out, right? Mine goes bac into the gear box at a lower port. It's leaking from ports near the drain plug. I can see the ports once I removed the cover that hides the clutch. Are those ports supposed to drain excess oil? It currently has ATF. I'm waiting for the 80-90 gear oil to come in. I'm assuming the gear oil will be much thicker and possibly stop leaking. Please help. Has anyone come across this issue.

thank you
