Default LT80 - Rear Frame Alignment

Hi All,

I just notice that my son's rear fender's are not equal distance from the edge of the rear tires. I have about 1.5" shift to the left if you're looking at it from the back (i.e. the fender cover more of the tire on the left). I also notice that the shock leans to the left as well.

This doesn't seem normal - i would think it was be equal on both sides of the tire. Is the frame outta alignment/bent? If so, how do i go about fixing it?

Thanks.

I would start by taking the plastics off and looking around at the locations the plastic bolts to the metal frame......also on these quads the engine/trans is a stressed member of the frame, I would check there for any cracks or damage.

Thye frames break::
1) under the machine where the 3 rails come together.
2) on the down tubes by the air box/carb area.

it's prolly the bushings wore out on the front of the motor (pivot point).
The grab bar will go side to side, correct?

Yes - it does go side to side and the bolt and nut were loose at that pivot point. I tighted them up and the side to side went away but didn't take the lean completely out.

I've been itching/meaning to take the quad apart down to the frame so i can paint it. Maybe this is the best time to do so and go through. What other areas should i check?

Checking all the bushings should do it.

Will do.

I have a another question if you don't mind. How can you tell if you have a worn rear shock? Should it spring back up quickly or slow? should it be stiff or soft?

Thanks!!

OK.....today i took the quad down to the frame and plan to sand blast everything and paint tomorrow (my son picked red - I think it's gonna look cool).

Anyway, how much play should the bushing have at the engine pivot point? should it be tight fit on the bolt? I have the manual but it didn't say (or i couldn't find it) what to look for or tell when to replace the bushing. Also, is it wrong to add a little grease to the bushing and bolt when reassemblying?

Thanks.

The rubber is what wears out on the bushings.
You can add grease altho it don't do much.
