Is there a simpler intake system for the LT80?
#3
Well, I guess I'm exaggerating a little bit. I was trying to get the plug out to do a compression test and I had to remove some of the intake. It just seems like a lot of friggin plastic.
Has anyone tried the 20mm carb with the K&N filter on it that Midwestminis (I think that's the name of the site) sells?
I've never seen pics of an lt80 with anything other than a stock intake system, so I'm just wondering??

Instead of going through all the trouble of taking off the intake ducts take the seat off and there is a peice of plastic right over top of the sparkplug. it about 4"x3". I cut mine out and let me tell you it made it a 1000 time easier then going through all that trouble. I can prob change a plug in approx 2 mins. and you have total access to the top end also. Hope this helps you out.

Yeah I tried that but it seemed like the intake was still in the way. I couldn't seem to push it aside to really get in there. Then again it was dark and freezing cold out so I could be wrong.
Has anyone tried anything other than the stock intake though?
And thanks for replying I will give it another go tomorrow, hopefully I can find somewhere warm to work.

The DG carb set-ups (20mm) run OK. You will get more dirt in the motor over time.
Every one that I had (or my riders) the carb fell out of the adapter that they made to bolt it on.
I'm w/ KFX80dad, Once the lil flap is cut off the plug is super easy to get to with a socket and extension.
To remove/install the plug cap: use your left hand and go behind the air tube.
Nothing in the way really.
I'm sure you'll find it easy enough when you can see.

I sliced up my intake before I read LT80s comments that it doesn't make much difference. I'm using the uni-filter with a pre-charger. Or, at least I will. Once I get it working again.
Not really sure what the trouble with removing spark plug, but we have Maier plastics; maybe the stock stuff blocks the area directly above the spark plug.
