LT80 Piston replacement problem
Recently purchased a used and abused LT80 from a frien of mine, it was in a bit of a stat but after a carb clean and a starter motor overhauls we got it running. after sorting brakes and a few other bits and pieces we had a good few afternoons out on it, had it starting on the button hot or cold.
after our last trip i decided to strip the motor to change the piston and rings, the old one was a bit battered.
I ordered a cheap one from ebay, cleaned up the bore and bolted it back together with new gaskets.
Now it just wont start, had apart a few more times to check all is well, cant see anything obvious other than there does not seem to be much compression, i can crank it over with my thumb over the plug hole without too many problems.
whats gone wrong!!!
any help or advice greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forums.
The proper thing to do would have been to get the next size piston and have the cylinder bored to the piston size.
So how many thousandths clearance does the piston have to the cylinder?
It sounds like you installed a new piston in a wore cylinder.
FYI:You need to at least have the cylinder honed to break the glaze.
I use and recommend Suzuki parts. I do use Pro-X pistons.

it wont run at all unless i give it a shot of carb cleaner.
the piston is pretty sloppy in there, ive just stripped it out ready for a rebore.
ill let you know if it makes a difference!!
ill look into the suzuki piston from a local dealer, previous experience says he will rip me off !! the bike is only used for fun with my kids.
ill look into the pro X piston.
thanks for your help
