Well my son's LT80 will not start. It turns over and is getting gas to carb. I drained the gas, new spark plug, still no start. Did backfire 3 times trying to get it to start. What does it mean whem it backfires?? Tried a shot of starting fluid, no start. Removed and cleaned carb nothing. Exhaust has flow. How do I check the oil pump to see if its working? I removed the hose going to the carb and tried to start it and no oil comes out. I am guess it is a slow drip?

Got my son a New Mini Iron Cross bumper for his birthday, we put the bumper on after his b-day and no start....sucks....

 

I've heard of those bumpers doing that....
Did you check and see if it has spark?
Maybe a compression check.

 

It started before you put the bumper on?

Sounds like you may have knocked something loose when you installed it.

has nothing to do with the bumper...lol Just the same old LT80 problems.

 

has spark. has compression, cover spark plug hole with thumb can feel compression. guess I have to take it to a shop for compression test.

 

a compression tester from harbor freight would be cheaper then any shop doing it, plus you would own it for future checks

 

If you have an Auto Zone nearby, see if that's one of the tools they have to loan. You put up a deposit, and if the tool comes back in proper shape, you'll get your deposit back.

 

what should the compression be? Have not had a change to get compression test done.

did the compression test lastnight and it was 50. So what is the next step? Replace rings and piston? Is there a rebuild kit I can buy? What about the reeds, someone told me if they are bad can cause no compression?
