Default NEW (2014) LT-Z50 Info Thread.

I just purchased a 2014 LTZ50 for my 5 year old son. He had a TaoTao 110 before this and it was total Junk. Adult sized controls and poor poor quality. So now I have a 2014 Suzuki ltz50 that's a beautiful machine but has Crap for power.

So.
I started tweaking. I drilled the end of the Spark arrestor and opened the air box up a bit. I upped the Pilot Jet to a 17.5.

Now I cant get it to idle right. I tried the AF screw but no better. It changes it, but never fixes the problem. I cut the airbox and muffler so theres no going back easily. oops.(dont tell the wife).

Before the pilot Jet upgrade the Spark plug was white as snow. Now its black as coal. Im just stumped.

I have a DNYA cdi coming for it. A clutch kit from CT racing along with some other jets (mains and a pilot, He says I need larger pilot)

the idle is so erratic. its up, its down. the machine stalls all the time, and needs throttle input to start up even when hot. The machine has about 10-15 hours use on it. My little fella drives it hard and through all of our adult sized atv trails.. He loves the puddles. haha

Anyone have any dealings with CT racing?

I called about a week ago.. He really rushed me on the phone with a " Yeah Yeah, Whatever,,, you're bugging me" attitude. but I let it slide cause he did say I was just on his way out the door. (I say if you dont have time to answer the phone, don't pick it up)Whatever. Anyway. He took my info and credit card number but has not billed me are emailed anything. I emailed him back, still nothing.

anyone else have this problem ?

To be honest, I don't understand why ppl buy a 4 stroke 50cc then want speed. There just isn't much to work with to get much out of.
What you need is a DRR or Apex 50cc 2 stroke.

What was the stock pilot? I would only go up one size from stock at a time, even though it was probably pretty lean already.

As for CT, it is race season, and the start of wedding /graduation season. Many race shops are at events on the weekends and are backed up with work during the week this time of year.

It's not the speed I'm after, it's just more out of the hole power. The size of the machine is perfect and my son loves it. I just see him struggling in the trails on slight hills and as little as 2 inches if muck.

Stock pilot was a 12.5. But I read about nearly everyone using a 17.5 so I bought one.
Right now it will run very poorly at anything below 2 1/2 turns out on the air/fuel screw. That would lead me to believe it's lean. However, the plug is black which would make me think rich. It still surges and really struggle to find and hold an idle. If it turn the idle speed up to prevent stalling it will stay running but fluctuates up and down.
Also you must open the the throttle to get it to start. Choke or no choke, hot or cold, it need some throttle input to start.

I wonder if you need to go up on the pilot jet.

Can anyone tell me about the little grub screw that's supposed to be near the pilot jet?
Does this need to be removed before pilot jet changing? Do I need to put it back in when the new jet is installed, or it's it some sort of restrictor for the pilot circut?
