The stators on the Polaris mini's are known to fail.
You may want to install a new crank seal while the stator is off.
Read up, I'm sure OPT (old polaris tech) would have covered this.

 

Thanks LT80. Good call on the crank seal. Maybe that's the source of all of the sludge in there. Just tested the stator and not getting any resistance between 2 of the wires so pretty sure it's bad. Still trying to figure out where the noise was coming from. Seriously considering just removing the pump entirely and premixing the gas from now on. I will make sure and read up on what OPT has posted. Thanks again!
