Redcar mpx 90
#1
I just purchased my daughter a used Redcar 90. When I start it it automatically revs high and stays reved high. I also have no throttle response and the carburetor appears to be brand new. Please help I am on the fence on buying a new carburetor.

Either the idle speed screw is wound way too far in, or the throttle cable is not fitted properly. Check the cable first, inner goes into the throttle slide if it is a slide carb, outer fits into a dimple in the carb top. Cable adjuster (usually on the handlebar control box) is adjusted so the first 1/4" of movement of the lever does nothing. If all that is fine, adjust the screw which the throttle slide bottoms out onto, out for slower.

Look down the body of the carb, at the slider, take carb off to do this if needed, but leave the cable on. Press throttle lever on and off, slide should go up and down, bottoming out on that slow running screw, so very little air can get under it at idle. If it doesn't go almost right down, something is stopping it. Find out what. Other possibility is the choke on all the time.

Thank you very much I will try that tonight.i am thinking it might be the wrong carburetor bc I have a choke that has a cable and the carburetor that is on it has no place to hook the cable up
