A friend gave me a kazuma 50 cc (I think it is a meerkat) for my grandson. I can get it to start but it takes off full throttle as soon as it starts. Not sure what causes this. I don’t see anywhere to shift gears so I’m guessing it has a centrifugal clutch or something like that… Anyone have an idea on where I should start?

 

Check the adjustment of the throttle stop on the carburettor slide, and make sure the cable can let the slide drop onto the stop. If the cable or slide sticks, free it off.

 

Merryman, Big Thanks! Making progress, not stuck in “wide open” now. I think I need to adjust the carb now and maybe that will be it. It will run for a few seconds and then dies. It does respond to the throttle now.
