i was wondering if any of you have or knows someone thats put a banshee or zilla engine in a odyssey or pilot??and your thoughts on it. if you could you could then shift and it would be much better.

What would be better about it? You would lose reverse if you did this to an FL350 or a Pilot. A CVT is a perfect transmission for these machines. The belts don't slip unless you get them wet.

depends if you want or need reverse. if it doesnt matter then a banshee engine would sound alot better and have many hop up parts and you could shift and have a clutch.

As far as parts go, a 350 Odyssey motor is basically a big bore TRX250R. Mine spins 9000 RPM. You can have it ported by anyone who does the quads. The 350 uses the same reed cage so you have all the same options. There are a few different pipes. You would have to have custom pipes made with a Banshee motor. It is detuned from the factory with a small carb, but has huge potential. Mine is not even at the limit. I run 170 PSI static compression so that I can run 93 octane pump gas. A full race ported one will pull wheelies.

Why exactly do you believe having a manual clutch and manual transmission is better? So you can dump the clutch? I have my clutch engagement set up at 4900 RPM. Sometimes a guy on a quad will run with a group of Pilots and Odysseys at the dunes. They get tired of all the shifting and rarely seem to be in the right gear. Our machines are always in the right gear.

As far as not having reverse, I hope you have a strong back to muscle a 650 lb machine around that has a huge turning radius.

Yes I have seen several "shifter" buggy's trying to go fast on the drag strip wile at Silver Lake and Little Sahara they have a hard enough time trying to change gears going in a straight line much less trying to keep in the right gear on the trails, if I were going to install a engine that I had to manually shift it would be a long stroke big bore 4 stroke engine, something forgiving so when your in the wrong gear (which you will be 90% of the time) you can power through it without killing the engine.

I would like to see someone with a Banshee engine installed in a Pilot or Odyssey keep up with a stock Pilot or Odyssey on the simplest of trails not to mention having to get out and kick start it every time you kill the engine hehe

I know lots of people who install snowmobile engine's in them. Seems to work out quite well, they fly.

Yes, a snowmobile engine is a much better choice. The engine in my Drakart is the same one that was in a Ski Doo MXZ until replaced with the 600 reed valve motor.
