hey, i'll probably be pickin up an odysee pretty soon and i wanna do a lot of stuff to it and make it into my woods cruiser. i have an old jag 340 snowmobile (1976 i believe). do you think it would be a good idea to put that engine in? the 250 engine runs but it needs some work and its gettin to be on its last legs. the jag is in decent condition. also i'm worried about cooling. is it gonna have trouble getting enough air to cool it so its not overheating all the time? the jags made to run in the cold and its air cooled.

also i think i'm gonna paint it with some of that color changing paint and i also wanna put a stereo on it. what do you think of that? maybe one day if i'm rich i'll put on some hydrolics lol

I hope you know that the real(non spary can) color changing paint is about $350 a pint(at least for the DuPont stuff). If you're talking about the crap in a can, it's like $25 for the kit, but it looks like crap, IMHO. For cooling, I would build a "scoop" that would force air down it and onto the motor. A stereo eh? Well, I don't know, I'll build you a box for some 10's and you can figure out where to mount it... Good luck. Damn, now I have an idea, a Ski-Doo 465 motor in my old Kart frame, ugh ugh ugh ughhhhhhh!

You will toast that motor. Not only was it not designed to run in hot weather, you don't get good airflow behind the seat. You need to find something liquid cooled. The chain won't hold up to much more power. When it breaks, it wads up in the cases and breaks them. You really need to add suspension and better brakes as well if you increase the power.

yeah i was talkin about the spray paint kind. i don't care if it looks like crap cuz i'm sure it looks better than the rust/faded red color it is now.

ltracerx- no thanks on the offer for the box, i'm perfectly capable of building my own

and i'm starting to decide against the snowmobile engine, how good are the shocks on these things anyways?

The 250 has no rear suspension, and i'm sure the front isn't worth $10. I would try and find a 125 or 250 engine and make it kind of like a shifter kart. Yea, the paint will look better than rust

i would get a used xr250 motor and slap it in there...it might be fairly easy to get it in.

xr250? that would have no power at all. i was lookin for an upgrade in power not a decline. the stock motor is a 2 stroke engine. anyways i'm starting to think i should just leave the 250 in it for now.

I bought a 83 FL250 for my wife. It has a Tiple E cage. I have a ROTAX 500 that I will be putting in it soon. With this cage there is no need for body work. It looks like a High Jumper/Sand Rail. I have cut the stock plates that hold the bump stops and moved them up two inches. I replaced the factory bump stop that are 1-3/4" long with a low profile bump stop that they make for lowered mini trucks. There only 1/2" thick. I made new shock towers that attach a set of Yamaha Blaster front shocks. This came me just over 8" of travel in the front. Next step is the rear. I was thinking about using a link suspension from a XR500 that has enough beef to hold this thing together. So far so good though!
