Can't do better than the DS. Best on the market. almost maintenance free and yes after he gets tired of following daddy, with about $100-$300 of mods he will be yelling for daddy to catch up. My 8 yr old races the big brother version (DS90) and consistantly places 1st and 2nd with only jetting mods.

While we are all discussing kids quads.. what is the next logical option for a 10 year old that can ride his trx90 to death he can ride to the point where I am constantly putting chains on it, and replacing brakes. He is consistently bottoming the suspension on jumps and seldom even looks like he is out of control. I was considering the Blaster or either the 250ex or z250. I have heard that there are some 150s out there that may be good bikes, any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. I may just drop several several hundred bucks on suspension and engine mods on the 90, as well as new plastic.... that may hold him for another 2 years or so, but he is ready for something bigger.

I would be more inclined to tell you to mod the Dinli. A Blaster is a fairly big machine. At 10 yrs old, I would get his opinion.

i tryed the honda 90 but the boy got to big fast, so at 9 i got him a blaster, well that was a big step for about three months then he was fling that thing around , well i decided i didn't like the gas going thru the 2 stroke our rides were controled by the mileage of that machine, well i found a used honda 400 and couldn't be happier it has easy to use power and it just works great for him. the weight is more than he canlift if it get stuck but we always ride together. other than that the big whoops throw him around a bit but as he grows that will change, and honestly it probably isn't much different than a little machine with no real suspension. i know that this is a big step, but i ran into other people with there kids on 400's and they said it is just such a easy machine that kids like it a lot. but this is coming from people that ride sand dune so the power is down from the start.

The DS50 does allow Jet changes. Try starting with the stock jet sizes for the 90 ( including the pilot jet.) And as for the CDI simply unplug the 50's unit and order the stock 90's unit and plug it in. Unlike the other 90's on the market the DS90 does not come with a restricted CDI. You might also consider changing the rear sprocket to a 4-28. You won't believe the difference!
