How odd, someone with an LT as their icon has to chime in defending the LT's honor against anyone who might be bold enough to suggest that it wasn't the absolute monster it's been made out to be over the years.
My primary ride is an EX and I think stock LTs ARE mild - for a 500 2 stroke - good bottom end torque backed up by a decent lower midrange, that's about it. I've been riding for well over 20 years and have spent time on about every quad and 3-wheeler & dirtbike out there. The LT engine isn't even in the same ballpark as something like a KX or CR500 engine.
Denton could have won on a tricycle - probably still could. Nuff said.

I'm not "chiming" in, just stating fact. You or your misinformed opinions have obviously never been on a two-stroke. 20 years experience on the sidelines didn't educate you at all. My experience with EXs is that they gather a lot of dust behind any LT. Maybe you should try golf.

A 250r in stock form, is right inline with a 400ex. There was a test in Dirt Wheels a few years back that resulted in the same results. They stated it themselves "You forget(us included) how mild the 250r is in stock form. All you see on the race track is modded machines, when in fact, the 400ex holds it's own up agianst a stock 250r in every situation."
Sorry, you cannot compare the quads of the 80's to what we have today....Cannons are in a league of their own, Bombardier and Raptors, the slew of 400's, and now the new YFZ????!!! This is the best time to be involved with ATV's, the market is booming, new products are coming out, it just doesn't get any better than this! Maybe September will top off the year with a new machine from Honda.....but until then, I'll still be riding my Cannondale and not worrying about getting parts. Always strikes me funny how everyone that DOESN"T own a Cannondale is worried about getting Cannondale parts?????? Why?

You're right jcv400ex. Every non-owner is worried. Everone of us "owners" know who to call to get ANY part we need. Maybe a year or two down the road it may be hard to get some motor parts. But until then, I'm riding as hard as I can. Then I'll put a KTM in it !!

2003 is the best year in the history of atv(s) by far. All of the big four offer a decent quad and now Yamaha has dropped another bomb on the market. For those that are disillusioned about the performance of the 250r need to wake-up. A stock 250r is not the killer quad that you hear folktales about on the internet. The old men(30+) on here need to educate the kids(20 & under) to the real facts. I owned a 250r, so I speak from experience. In my opinion, the Banshee is the most legendary quad in history. To top it off, it is a living legend.
