I agree about the Stock Ds is faster stock. They got one big motor. It would take a pipe and gearing change with some fine tuning and top end map to break the 80 mph barrier. There are very few places around here to wind up a four wheeler so top speed is not really that important except for bragging rights and thats where the modified machines will always rule..I average just over 25mph trail riding and that is hauling on WI tight and twisty trails. I average 25mpg also so a 75 mile range is easily achivable for those long trail rides on the stock fuel tank with a half gallon to spare. I recomend getting one of those $20 speedo/odometers for checking mileage because there is no reserve on the dales. I usually run with 250rs and they usually run out of fuel long before me so I dont have to be the one planning for the next fuel stop.

Yes thats right I just printed out the top speed chart off of Atv Riders web site and they list the top speeds as follows
FX400 76
Raptor75
Ds 650 75
Banshee 73
250r 68
400ex 64
warrior 61
blaster59
300ex 54
250ex 47
I believe the FX400 had just a smidge more stock power that the later models but I think mid 70s is right on. They didnt list a predator but I did get a chance to race one last winter for over a mile and the top speed of the predator was almost exactly the same as my stock speed so my guess would be 74 .
Dont forget there are 5 models of cannondales with a different power map for each one so the top speeds are just a little different depending on the factory map and gear ratio.
Cannabals have a lower rev limiter and a softer map so they are the slowest (compared to other models)but can be changed in a few minutes to the more powerful mapping with the higher rev limiter.
These numbers are stock but with a set of pipes the 2 strokes get a substantial increase in power which makes the get into the 80s very easily. The 4 strokes take major engine work and much more cash.
Since the z400s have 3 more horse than a 400ex I am going to guess they will close to 70.
Ive got a 300ex that goes 65 acording to the speedometer but I also have a 406 stroker kit and several thousand in engine work into it.
Now top speeds may be different depending on temp, fuel, altitude, state of tune and surface and wind conditions so I would give a 5mph leway in actual top speeds so lets not start arguing over who was faster that day.

I will say one thing...Those numbers are wrong. Stock the DS 650 and Raptor are both under 70 mph. Regardless of what they say. In a quarter mile I ran both and they were both floating around the 70 number, but couldn't get there. Also the banshee was closer to 70. As far as my test rider weight doesn't mean crap except a mph or 2.

Exept for maybe the YFZ450 and the ONLY REASON would be for factory support. From what I've read so far a cannondale is still faster. Nobody knows about the reliability of the yfz yet and I was convinced on the reliablility of my cannon a yr ago. Considering I ride almost every week sometimes two or three times a week and I haven't had one problem except for bent handlebars from it going end over end down 60-80 ft. hills. I am deffinetly convinced. If you do the maintance they require, which isn't much more than anyother sport quad than they will treat you right for yrs. to come.
I hope this answers your question.

I'd have to say the same Nothing in the world compares to it right now too me . minus the new Yamaha that looks like a new addition to the stable .
