Just Bought An 02 Speed!
#1
Hey folks I just purchased an 02 Speed but don't get to pick it up until Friday oh well. Bad thing is it doesn't run but I got it so cheap that it will be worth fixing for sure. I didn't get to do any troubleshooting on it before buying it so it may just be somthing simple hope it's not a broke crank or somthing.
But anyway it appears to be very nice and already has an aftermarket exhaust on it. I look forward to becoming part of this section of the forum and hope you guys can help me get this thing running. As soon as I pick it up I'll get to troubleshooting and let you guys know how it goes.

But don't buy an engine from ATK, they are overpriced IMO
Buy a new one on Ebay, or just fix yours, come out even farther ahead.
Great deal!

If the atk engines have all the updates and the falicon cranks then I dont think 2500 is that bad a price. If they are leftover 03 engines then i wouldnt even consider them at any price ,those are to shady.

I am scheduled to pick up the Dale this Friday and can't wait! How would I be able to tell if it has a broke crank? I know one obvious thing is the oil would probably have metal shavings in it? Will the engine still turn over with a broke crank but just spin really fast? Or would it probably be locked up?

I think what happens more often than not is a crank bearing fails, the crank doesn't actually "break". From what I've read, they will usually still turn over by hand but they'll seem to have some serious sticky places. That's the sign that a bearing has taken a dump on ya. Hopefully if that happened it didn't break everything else in the process, case, etc.. but even if it did, you still got a good deal! Let us know what you find and we'll send you in the right direction.

I think it will be pretty darn nice in comparison. Just wait til you are ready to widen her out - or you can even get the Blaze Ohlins shocks for about ... $600. Pretty good deal if you ask me
