A friend has just bought 2 Cannibals with problems and need help/opinions.
#1 has the piston skirts broke off below the wrist pin...where to get parts?
Has anyone seen this before?
#2 has coolant in the oil...any ideas...gasket or crack?

Looking forward to running these!!! Any help for these issues will be appreciated!
Also what else should I do or look for in the way of general maintenance?

 

Atk USA has all stock parts and I think champion and southbay has big bore kits. Check for cam cover corrision for water in oil quad. You might be able to clean it and jb weld it but i would recomend full removal repair and powdercoating it or get a new one. If thats not it then the liners can crack if they are installed the wrong way.Never heard of a skirt breaking on a cannon before. Did the previos owner use synthetic and change it often. It sounds like these were abused. If you dont think you can handle the repairs Ill fix them for ya.

 

While you have them down, check the head for warpage.

We've torn down two different quads [one of them my own] in the last few months that the heads were warped on. Mine was milled .010 and still leaked. Wound up taking .020 to get it to seal correctly.

WISTECH is right about the parts. ATK has just about everything you will need for the Dale engine.

 

..you can also get a 97mm "450cc" piston from Haydoug over at cannondaleriders. in fact i think hes haveing a good deal on them right now.

 

yeah atk will help yah out my buddy got on my cannondale and broke the rod off the piston and the crank and atk help me out alot!!!
