You guys should try the open pod filter. Trash the K&N, go to a open foam filter. These things kill the K&N and stock filter set-up.

This set-up removes the whole airbox from behind the stem, removes the factory filter. The set-up I am using, I made myself and uses the short airhorn, aluminum for a base plate to attach the sensor and barometric pressure tube to and a 400EX uni foam filter. On the flow bench this set-up flows 40-45% more than a stock or K&N filter in the factory set-up. A K&N with a outerware from a 400EX flows just a little less than that on the bench. Leans the Dales out a little. Need a D&M kit handy to readjust a few things.

Our dyno testing prove that 2 horse can be gained by the motorcycle air horn and another 2 from removing the airbox. The drawbacks from removing the airbox is more noise and less filter protection. You can also leave the airbox in tact and install a filter piece on the top in a 4x4 hole cutout will yield the same result as removing the airbox. 4 horse darn near for free.

The set-up Im using is not loud at all, not disagreeing with wistech, but the noise level is minimal on this one. It was actually louder with the long airhorn in it. The other filter I use, Rincon 650, made a little more noise also. I really dont pay attention to the noise. I think the shorty super-trapp puts a dampner on the filter noise anyway. This set-up is a big A+ in my book.
