This is VERY BAD

Ok how far away from a weld. In welding there is something called the "Heat Effected Zone". If not properly heat treated after welding, than it's possible to have a crack develope. Usally, not more than 1/4 - 1/2 from the weld. I have trouble believing that it's either a welding heat treating problem due to Canondales many years in Aluminum construction bikes.

Well, I don't know what yalls deal is but I've seen quite a few of his posts and MOST of them (not the early ones) seem to prove that he does own the quad.
Corndog- you might have hit something and didn't know it. I'm very suprised to hear that you cracked your frame because I have taken my fare share of chunks out of the ground and my frame has no bends or cracks anywhere. It doesn't even have any bad scratches. Well, post some pics and let us see. Hope you get everything worked out.

Corndog,
I am an engineer for Cannondale. Please call me. 203-749-7141. We have never had a frame crack from regular use. We have hundreds and hundreds of hours on frames with no failures (Including a bunch of hours with people like John Natalie riding). If this is a defect we will take care of you.

Damn!! I'm impressed, we have VP's of Cannondale watching our forum and answering our questions and now someone from the engineering side of the house jumping in and giving out phone numbers to call for help, I love this company!!

Smitty,
I am really really busy as I work in R&D in Bethel, CT. I also work with the Nac's team, so I generally don't have a heck of a lot of time to talk with customers like yourself (although I wish I had more time to do that!!). I am more than willing to answer questions and address concerns on this forum or at any of the races I will be at. I post replies to questions on this board when I can. That number is my work number. I wouldn't have posted my number but in this case I am really concerned about a potential frame failure. The frame has been really bullet-proof and I would like to know why his frame failed, and help out any way I can. I am a fellow rider and I know how frustrating it can be to have your quad not working. BTW for anyone living in southern NH I am looking for some people to ride with this weekend.
