Well, I am impatiently waiting for my Speed to get here from the factory; but in the meantime I thought I would ask those of you that service your Cannondales yourselves about how the first valve adjustment went for you. I saw on R&S Performance's website how you need to drop the motor out of the frame, anyone run into any problems doing the valve adjustment? Anyone have any tips that you learned while you did it? JIM

I remember one of the C'dale owners in Arkansas did his own valve adjustment. You might scroll back through this forum and find that thread, it was quite a while back. You could PM him and get his details. I'm curious what the dealers are charging for this?

Yeah I would be interested to know also what the dealerships are charging for the valve adjustment. I just took mine for break-in service and about choked on my latte.

so what did they charge you DirtHawg? for what services?
I decided not to pay my dealer to learn how to work on the 'dale and have struggled along with it myself.
Sometimes easy, sometimes not.
Thanks

$50.00 for 1 hr shop labor .....ok
Then the $35.00 for parts has me scratchin' my head.
THe oil was 7.95 a quart (2). and a spendy filter...
oh well lol. My first ATV, My first shop bill, gonna start doing some wrench bending on my own for sure..!!

It seems for my first ATV I chose a maintenance intensive machine, but oh what a ride..

In the future, I would bring your own oil and filter. $7.95 for a quart of oil is highway robbery!! What did they use, some kryptonite laced synthetic oil refined from Mars?? They should have given you a receipt with all the parts they used, I'd be a little upset!

Ouch! an $85 oil change! i bet they didn't even clean the air filter!
The first service on my yamahas was $120. Basically for an oil change and 1 spark plug! It was at that point i decided to learn this stuff myself. Seems to me that the 'dale is only a bit more demanding in the maintenance than yamaha.

I know i don't have a cannondale but my first service was a valve adjustment, oil and filter, idle adjustment, plus the standard check on brakes and bolts....$101 Canadian....seems like you guys are getting ripped off...or are your parts more expensive?...$7.95 for a quart of oil!!!...WOW!!!
