I am going to purchase an 01 reconditoned FX400 this week w/ all the recall work done and get a six month warranty for 6025 otd. I want to know if the older mapping 500ecu or whatever can be remapped?? Did they make two different mappings for the Fx's?? What can I ask my dealer to specify to Cannondale that I will be happy with??? Thanks for any help. The Suzy is still coming also.....

 

sounds like an OK deal sandgod. you get a new engine with that don't you? I don't think the 500 gives as many options for remap, but i'm happy with it. Til I get the HMF slipon/remap. Man, i believe I would ask for an 02 seat! The FX's were kinda hard. So, will it come with red plastic?

 

Yes it will come w/ red plastic. Thanks for the heads up on the seat. My 86 250r was a brick.

 

Are you for sure it has the 500 ecm? If it is reconditioned then it should have a 2002 motor and then it will have a 1000 ecm. Either motor it will still be a pretty good deal, because if it has the original motor there will be a good chance it will mess up and you will get a 2002 motor for free. I know, I own an fx400 and I got a free motor and it was not under warranty. They had a bad problem with the main bearing that year.

 

How long did it take for your FX motor to go? wasa there any indication of immenint failure? Did you work with the dealer through the problems? Sorry so many questions, just curious.

 

Ryanstones, It had adout 30-40 hours on it. It fould plugs about every 8-10 hours and then the last time I changed the plug it wouldn,t start at all. I took it to the dealer and they tried messing with the fuel/air mixture and that wasnt the problem so they took off the stator cover and there were pieces of my flywheel all over. It was all caused by the main bearing.

 

Not sure on the remapping on the 500 computer but the best people to answer all your questions regarding that is Kyle or Carey at R&S Performance, they're great to talk to.
