cold starting?
#6
I might have misunderstood what you were saying. I agree that a few times of cranking before it starts cold seems to be normal, only because I don't sit there and crank it forever on the first push. I got a little addendum paper when I picked mine up and it went through specific procedures for cold starting the quad to avoid fouling plugs, so this must have been an issue owners were having. I haven't fouled one plug since I got it and I am up here in Alaska...the procedure seems to work........JIM

ATV Cold Starting
*Make sure the battery is fully charged. A low battery will turn engine over, but will fail to activate engine management circuits.
*Wait 5 seconds after pressing the engine start button the first time to activate or "wake up" the engine management circuits.
*Pull in the clutch lever ONLY when holding the start button down to turn engine over.
1.Position the vehicle on level ground and shift the transmission into neutral.
2.Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
3.Switch the engine stop switch to RUN.
4.Quickly(1 second)press the engine start button and release it to activate the engine management circuits and WAIT 5 SECONDS. During this time the fuel pump turns on for 3 seconds then off to pressurize the injectors, the Idle Air Control Valve(IACV)will move into position opening the idle bypass port. If you don't wait 5 seconds, insufficient fuel pressure and incorrect idle air bypass positioning will prevent the engine from starting; resulting in spark plug fouling.
5.After waiting 5 SECONDS, pull in the clutch and press and hold the engine start button until the engine starts; but hold it NO MORE than 2 or 3 seconds at a time.
6.When the engine starts, slowly release the clutch lever.
7.Allow the engine to idle until it reaches operating temperature(70C)before you begin riding.
This is what I was given, hope it helps............JIM
