Nothing fishy about the Cannibal/FX quads. ALL of the early Cannibals were FX models. Nothing fishy. These were not the refurbs and demo quads. These were unsold FX models that Cannondale retrieved for the recalls.
Date of manufacturer has nothing to do with the year model designation. Kawasaki does this on their "Mule" line. You could buy a Mule right now that was built 3, 4, or even 5 years ago. You can also buy Cannibals in some parts of the country that were built two years ago. They aren't refurbs. Just new ones sitting around receiving updates. Don't think there's anything wrong with it, because Honda, Yamaha, etc, all do the same unless the machine has already been allocated to a dealer.
All of the Cannibals with the EC500, regardless of serial number range, were FX models.
As long as the quads were never titled or registered, there in nothing illegal about it.
