I'M GETTING ON THE BOAT.....

<< Guy, good to have you on the fence with your choice.....I really doubt you would be sorry if you went with the Speed, the Suzuki seems to me to be another detuned atv that is begging for a bunch of mods to make it run like it "should". The Speed, on the other hand; is already pissing fire as soon as you uncrate it. (Sorry, that is the only redneck sounding phrase I could think of.).........JIM >>
Last time I pissed fire was in high school and the doctor had to give me some anti-biotics...nevermind, it's cleared up now.
Anyways, what's got me so mixed up right now is performance versus cost. I'll be the first to defend the Dale but the $7999 sticker's got me (and especially my wife) leaning towards something else. I fully realize the Z400 is no Speed but the $5500 tag is very appealing considering (on paper) it offers as good of handling, at least as good of suspension and some more motor as a 400EX. If money was no object right now I'd be all over the Speed. Until then I'll keep saving my money.

Guy,
Maybe you should look at the Cannibal. There are plenty of dealers that sell these for $6500.00 which is only $800.00 above the cost of the Z400.
Take the Cannibal and add a $200.00 HMF slip-on and then a re-map will give you the best bang for the buck.
If you were to buy the Z400, there would be no way to match the piped Cannibal's power with the $1000.00 difference and keep everything internal stock. Therefore, the stock reliability.
Now...I haven't ridden the Z400 yet, but all reports say that it is NOT a Raptor eater. If it's not a Raptor eater, there is no way it could be a Cannondale eater.
Just something else to think about.

Yeah, I haven't ruled out a Cannibal but I want the Ohlins if at all possible. Can't you get the Ohlins as a $400 upgrade or something? If I'd buy a Cannibal with the Ohlins upgrade and the remap with a HMF what's the difference with the Speed then?

get the z400 unless you are going to only race. the cannondales are pure race machines. pure race machines. the z400 you can do pretty much anything on. the cannondales are pure race machines. the cannondales are pure race machines. the cannondales are pure race machines. the cannondales are pure race machines. the cannondales are pure race machines. the cannondales are pure race machines. much maintenance.

Alaska400ex - If you want another redneck saying, you could go w/, "The Dale runs like a scalded *** ape." I admit though... I do use that saying every now and then.
Guy Raptor - Don't take advise from Corndog... Do you really want to take advise from someone that has says,
"-------------------------
2002 Cannibal-maintenance nightmare
People of Cannondale, I want to pi$$ all over you.
-waiting on 2002 EC1000 Cdale refuses to give discount on(they gave me 2001 EC500)
2001 Arctic Cat 250 "
Thats like taking advise from Hitler on how to be kind and love everyone.

Dealers can sell the quads for whatever they want to. I went through a bunch of dis-satisfaction on my first few visits to my dealer, I was certain that he would not see any of my money. Then the owner called me at home one day, thanks to some people at Cannondale; and I sat down with him, explained my frustrations, etc. He told me that he hasn't sold many and needed to get some exposure on the new Cannondale quads in the Anchorage area, I told him I would be racing this year and that would surely spark some interest in the quads. I finally just told him that I would order a Speed that moment for 7100.00. He said, "let's do it." and that was that. So, I got my Speed for about the price of a new Corndog...errr...Cannibal....and am very happy. It wasn't as much of a stretch in price up here between even a 400EX and a Cannondale...I paid 5700.00 for my 400EX in 2001, my Speed is well worth the 1400.00 difference.........JIM
