scratching my head
#1
Was riding my Cannibal other day and it just quit running, it just died like it was out of gas so I pulled in the clutch and coasted to a stop and tried to restart it and it won't. I checked everything- it has gas, air and spark and it still will not start. I finally pulled it home on a Recon while all the buddies were laughing.Checked everything again, incluing the spark plug and everything checks out except it won't start, it turns over, it has oil, compression, fuel, spark but still no go. Any ideas anyone?

The fuel pump will make some noise when you have the run switch to on and the key turned on, it will turn on for a second or two. I had a "scratching my head problem", sounds similar too. In the end it was my battery not being charged FULLY. It was charged enough to crank, get the fuel pump going, etc, but not fire off the quad. I could be wrong, but it's easy to hook it up to a trickle charger for a day and see what happens. I left mine on an automatic charger overnight and next morning, she fired right up....cranked a lot faster too. JIM

I have the same problem with my cannibal. When it gets to a certain temperature it shuts off (which feels as if there is air in the gas line or no fuel being let out) usually when I get on it in 3rd, but it always starts back up. I spoke to cannondale and they told me that there was a revision to the operating code up to vin# 1078 and it needs to be updated. Your dealer should know about this revision. Hope it helps.

Mine will start but it idles at low RPM's and dies after a little while and at first I thought maybe it was air in the fuel line, so I took through all the gears to see if it would get better... well, it still isn't better. I'm sure it's either my fault or I just need to adjust the idle but what do yall think.
I called my dealership and they knew nothing about any revision to the operating code, not that I"m suprised that they don't know anything about it, but I was wondering what exactly Cannondale told you, if you don't mind.

Cannondale has released a service bulletin regarding this issue. Download the PDF from their site. The bulletin is called engine stalling and the bulletin # is SB02-008. Your dealer should receive a new operating code cd w/ instructions. My dealer did anyway. This new code supports better ECU management of sensor data interruption, a cause of engine stalling. The units affected are up to vin # 1078. Hope it helps.
