Fellas, brothers, sisters, ANYONE...Went down to a local dlr of Cannondale. Gave me a price of $6999 for a Cannibal. Okay, I was ready for that one!! Here's what took me by surprise. The salesguy tells me there is a $495 freight and set up, $89 docket fee PLUS 5% sales tax on the entire total--including the freight & set up. Is this a normal practice for Cannondale? I recently purchased two new quads in the past year (a Polaris ScramblerX-$5299 out the door and a Honda Rubicon-$6035 out the door). Folks, share with me your buying experiences concerning out the door prices on your Cannondale purchase. By the way, I rode the Cannibal. Verrry cool! Smooth. Powerful. Spectacular ride!!!

Thanks.

Scott

YOu should only pay tax on that price and maybe local registration. Cannondales come out of the box ready to rock so no setup is required. Knowsalot can pipe in here but I am sure you can find a better price. MSRP is ok but there should be no other charges. I see your in indiana, you want to drive to R&S? Might be worth your trip.

yep that is bs, you should find another dealer! my speed was $8300 OTD, so minus the $500 taxes my price was below msrp by 200 bucks! So yes there not like this at every dealer, and there are people on this forum that got ALOT better deals than I did.

I know in Indiana there isn't to many cannondale dealers. Maybe try Ohio, or Ky. so you don't have to pay sales tax.
Or go back and make that guy an offer, what have you got to lose?

I dont know how far you are from Dayton Ohio but you could contact honda of troy here, They are a cannondale dealer and have always given me no b.s. quotes usually a few hundred off of msrp, As far as set-up goes I dont think any quad these days requires any assembly when they arrive, I have bought 2 new ones and working on my third and other than fuel they were ready to rip out of the box[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]

i coulda gotten a cannibal for 6400 otd but unfortunately, california laws suck and it's a red stickered bike. meaning that i can only ride it on certain areas and times of the year.

I don't know if I should say what I paid for mine. I will say it was cheaper then my Z and I paid MSRP plus tax & no freight or set up charge on the Z... A steal is an understatement.

Alot of dealers have fees that apply to every model they sell just for their convience and nothing more.

There is setup on the Cannondale's....but nothing like they are on a Jap quad. More or less it's just going back over what Cannondale has done, we check fluids, tire pressures, tighten all bolts[you will be surprised], fill it with fuel, grease the steering stem clamp[They don't do this!!], among other minor details. We charge a setup fee of $50.00 and if the customer wishes to have a metal screen oil filter installed, we also do that for only the price of the filter. We then top it off with Honda HP4 with Moly oil [$6.25 a qt] at no extra cost. For the time to remove the quad from the crate and go over a checklist a mile long, the 50.00 is a good deal.

Also in reference to that, a dealer is actually violating standard Cannondale procedure by not going through the setup stages because when the dealer gets through with the checklist, he must send it back to Cannondale where it is then filed with them along with your registration data. How would you like it if you noticed a cracked frame the day after you bought your quad?? What if your dealer simply rolled it out of the crate and into your truck??? And then just starting checking things off of the checklist without ever looking at your quad?? Cannondale wouls simply say that it was your fault because it was fine when it left the dealer. [That may sound like an extreme case, but you get the point]

The "freight" costs will vary dealer by dealer. Some will take advantage of the situation and charge high prices on every model he sells, but the dealer didn't neccessarily pay these costs unless only one quad was shipped to him on a truck alone. If he had 6 Cannibal's on the truck, the freight won't be as high.

Documentation [or registration] fees are a given at every dealership and every customer pays for it, even though he may feel he got away without paying it. This can range from 50.00 to 100.00 depending on the dealer.

I hope some of this helps clear some things up on how a dealer operates pertaing to new purchase.
