You got that right!

This thread would be torn up if Corndog were still here.

Maybe we can meet up at LS sometime... I plan on going at least a couple more times this year - hopefully with both my 400EX and my CD.

Crashed please PM me your number and I can have Mark S. from the factory give you a call to get things straightened out. The Moto does not come with the skid guards. As the track gets rutted up they get hung up pretty bad, I found this out early in testing at Southwick. The sprocket side is a modified chain guard that is actually a chain guide.

What bolts were loose specifically? If you could get me this information I can have them double check these on the line.

As far as stalling goes this could be as simple as a loose wire to the battery or ground. The batteries are shipped seperately and the dealer puts them in. The Moto could have been sitting on the showroom floor for a while so there is a chance the dealer missed doing the updates on it.

I am sorry you are unhappy with your machine. We will do everything we can to help you out!

I've been impresed with the Cannondale products since the first day I seen them in DW( a magazine that i'm loosing respect for, not giving credit where credit is due, anyway) After I found this post I was getting a little worried about purchasing a Speed, with all the little problems that were coming up with them. But having a Cannondale engineer checking in on this post seeing what the consumers have to say. Completely regained my faith, and my purchase in the near future.Gotta love real American companies. Only thing I could go for now is a green sticker in CA.

an update.

Hi all

I think that a clarification is in order here. First of all I bought Cannondales (2) because they meet my desire for an high performance quad that cannot be met by any other brands. Secondly,I like what Cannondale is trying to do with their machines, i.e. most upto date and innovative design in a quad. I'm impressed with quality components that are used throughout the machines.Thirdly, I feel that I've gotten good value for the money (Moto got to be the greatest value in high performance quad out there right now). My comment about Honda v Cannondale is that all the Hondas I've owned were thought out very well design wise/user friendly/maintaince wise. And that I wish that Cannons were as well thought out as well in these areas. I'm not complaining about few loose fasteners- it happens to all machines, my big gripe is that Cannondale knows all about the problems that my machine is experiencing- gas tank leaking, engine intermittenly stalling and yet they could not resolve these problems before they shiped the machine to me. I placed the order for the Moto on April 29 and was told that it would take two weeks to build and ship them. My understanding was that Cannondale was well aware of the problems of stalling before this yet they could not rectify this situation before shipping the machine. My frustration is that previously if there were problems with any of my many machines I could work on it and in most cases could fix it or at least knew what the problem was but with these C-dales I'm unable to diagnose nor fix any problems because I can't idenity the problems in the first place because of the computerized system.

Lastly, I have a great dealer. He is very helpful in every way, infact, I consider him a friend. Also, I've found that Cannondale as a company is very responsible and helpful in everyway. My only wish is that I could just go out and race without these irritating problems. I'm looking forward to giving hard times to 250R's, 440ex's and 426Yamies soon.

PS
Dealer called today and said that the Moto does not come with guards for the rear brake nor sprockets due to the clearence.

regards,

ec

Crased,

I feel your pain. Somethings are not as easy to fix as others. I work in R&D for Corning Inc. (no relations to Corndog. LOL) Once we transfer a design to manufacturing and a problem comes up, it could take a while before it gets updated on the "line". I don't know the internal setup for Cannondale but they do get back to you IMHO, on fixing problems. We purchased a machine for over 1/2 mill, and the software was translated from Korean to English. Do I need to say more???

Here is a suggestion for you serious racers/riders if you are having continuous problems with nuts and bolts vibrating loose. Get an aviation supply catalog (like from www.texasaircraft.com), figure out what bolt/nut sizes you need and order a thing of safety-wire to go with it. I know that some bolt/nut sizes on ATVs don't have aviation counterparts but it is just an idea. I did this with my 200X and 250R engine mount bolts and it worked well for me. Just some cheap (relatively) insurance.
