Took my Cannibal out for the first time with the HMF pipe and remap done to it. (It was in the shop for a leaking water pump) Man it was screaming along great no problems. I was waiting to get a good open area to really rip it up and then it happened. I Pinched a tire. Actually more like ripped the tire. There was a 2" gash in the side wall. Crap now I am stuck about 5 miles into the trail from my truck and all there is back there is rocks. Now I need a new front tire and rim. Any suggestions. I haven't touched the back tires yet, but since the sets of 2 usually aren't that expensive I think now would be the time for the front.

Hello,

I tossed the stock tires and rims on my two scramblers. I replaced them with ITP Holeshot XCTs mounted on Douglas 190 rims (Thanks for the recommendation Mike Chero). I have ridden down in the mountains in Tennessee twice for 13 days in the last six weeks. The trails down there are pretty rocky. I haven't had so much a ding in my rim, no flats no anything. I rode 'em hard too. Great tires.

If you plan on just trail riding, I would listen to 400x, but if you plan racing get beadlocks or race rims (if you know someone who can weld aluminum just buy the rings and have them welded onto .190 rims). The big thing on tires is finding the ones that best suit your riding conditions (plus 4 or 6 ply tires don't punture(sp) as easy). I race in the woods and personally like the 23x7x10 (6 ply) bandit pure sports up front w/ 22x11x9 6 ply holeshot xct's on the back. Check out www.rockymountainatv.com on tire combos (this is where I buy my tire/rim combo's)
One thing if you go to 22" tires on the back you'll want to go to a size smaller front sprocket to get your accelleration back.

Stock front rims and tires SUCK on the Cannibals. I've done the same thing. I had the outer reinforcing rings welded on my front rims. This has helped alot. Just this past weekend though, I pinched a tire. I run 6.5lbs of air in them also. It should have been plenty. I found out that the fronts are only 2 ply tires though....so that's the problem right there. I got on the waiting list for a set of Maxxis Razors, I should have them by the end of June. I'm done playing around with the Holeshots. Fronts gumb up with mud and become un-controlable, and the rears do not slide well in turns.

My 20"-11"-9" rears with 3 rides on them, will be on Ebay shortly.

If you haven't paid for the razor's yet you might want to check out on of the next Gncc races, cause the typically have a good amount of the 6ply tires on hand for $50 per tire if I remember right on the tire prices. There are 3 nationals this month, one this next week in Uhrichsville, Oh. and one the 15-16 in Taylortown, Pa. Check out www.gnccracing.com for the full schedule and directions.

Lt,

I don't want to go with the 6 plys just yet. The 4 plys should get me through the season. I rode a 400ex with the 6 plys, and you could tell the difference in handling.

I do plan on going to atleast 2 of the nationals though. I can't wait for that.

Hey guys I just ordered new fronts...I went with the Maxis Razors 4ply because they had them in stock and I would have to wait for the 6ply. I had them mounted on douglas .190 aluminum rims. Is this going to mess with the holeshots on the rear handling wise.. I don't have the money for the rears quite yet.

Maybe I'll see you at one of the nationals. I plan on running the rest of them. I run the stock 4-stroke class on a speed. You shouldn't have any problems w/ the 4 plys. I just like the new tread design better. They are easier to control.

You'll like the razors fronts they steer great. As for the holeshots on the rear, don't worry about it. I'm currently running razors up front and 22x11x9 xct holeshot on the rear and it's a great combo. I personally don't like the razor rears cause the slide side ways to easy where as the holeshot got a good bit more sidewall traction. Plus I notice that the razor 20" tires are a 1/2" shorter than the 20" holeshots (less ground clearance which causes you to get hung up in ruts more). Hope this helped.

No thanks for the help. I am only running the stock holeshots though. I had the XCT's on my old quad stupid me got rid of them when I sold it. They would have fit on the dale. Ordered them from Rockymountain hopefully have them sometime early next week.

Sounds good LT. I get my number this weekend at the New York Series, so I'll tell you what to look for. I think I'll run the "First Year Racer" class at the Nationals. Depends on how I do at the New York series.
