thinking about a cannondale
#1
I am thinking about getting a cannondale for mx racing. I am undesided on which one would be the best. I am just getting started in mx racing so i am not that experianced. I would like some help with the decision. Also i see alot of people talking about the remapping. What is remapping and what does it do for it? If anyone could help me out that would be great. Thanks

The moto comes race ready with little to no extras needing to be added. Where as the cannibal or speed you would need to change the silencer, add nerf bars, tether kill, upgrade the shocks, and so on. Remember all this upgrades aren't needed right away (with the expection of the kill switch) to start racing, but are a must it you get in real heavy. Basically what I'm saying is if you planning on racing awhile you'll end up with a quad similar to the moto, it just depends on how much you what to spend up front.
The mapping is like rejetting a carb (with different pipes and conditions require different fuel delivery set-ups ie: maps).

Since the C'dales are all EFI, there are no carbs to rejet, the computer takes care of all the fuel/air mixtures. All the C'dale quads have different "maps" in their computers. The neat thing is you can buy the software and do it yourself or take your computer or quad to your dealer and have a different map downloaded into your computer. Some will even do this for free. What many people do on the Cannibals's is have the Moto map downloaded and install an aftermarket silencer, you gain more HP by doing this and you now have the same motor as the Moto quad. It also increases your soft rev limit on the Cannibal from 10,600 to 11,600.

I would start out with a Speed. You can add nerfs, 18" rears, and 19" fronts for a decent price. The Speed is in no way underpowered for any beginner MX class. This will give you a good start.
If you fall in love with racing(most likely you will) then you can have Ohlins upgrade the shocks and add a slip-on silencer and the Moto Mapping later.
Just my suggestion.
