refurb C-dales
#2
No it's not a joke, many people have purchased these units which basically end up being a new unit, new motor, new plastic, etc. I've heard some people being able to purchase them for $5K or a little more. Contact your closest dealer, if you don't know where one is, go to www.cannondale.com and use their dealer locator. Some dealers did not participate in this refurbished program though. If your local dealer does/did not participate, call Cannondale directly off their web site and ask if they have any more available and if they do, they should be able to ship one to a dealer close to you.

I guess I'll chime in on this one. First of all I should say I've been following along this forum since my Cannondale adventure began about a month and a half ago.
I've been gritting my teeth for about 4 weeks with this refurb deal. I contacted a dealer in FL that advertised the refurb in an on-line cycle trader. All he had in stock were supposedly sold, but he was supposed to get a truck with 2 more at the end of that week(one was already sold, the other available). Hooray!! It's mine! Well the truck with the 2 refurbs never came. Having read in here that there were only about 30 left at the factory and being concerned I might miss out on the only way I would get off my Warrior and onto something faster and better handling, I called Cannondale to see if he really was getting any more and if he wasn't, to get the names of all dealers they had or will be shipping to. He was scheduled to receive more, no tales told there. I called all the other dealers she gave me(about 5) and nobody had one. Then the bad news came from Cannondale. The refurb program had been delayed for at least the rest of the month(due to a large order of motorcycles going to Europe!). This was early in the 2nd week of May. The good news was that the helpful lady I'd been talking to had contacted production and my dealer(which is 600 miles away) and had my name put on the top of the list to receive the first refurb when the program was started back up. Sounds good, I guess, right?? Still waiting...
I contacted 6 dealers closer to me in VA, Maryland, and North Carolina, the closest of which was 2 hours, and only one of them had even heard of the refurb program and he didn't know any details.
I am concerned about the fact I don't have any dealers close by, but I don't mind doing the work myself. Honestly , I trust myself more than somebody I don't know at a dealer. My hope is that Cannondale will be supportive of that. We'll see how that goes.
From all this, CCOLE, you should take it that it is real, just hard to get a hold of one. Check locally, but unless your real lucky, you'll have to drive to get it.
Well, that's my story, minus a lot of details. If the 'Dale comes in, I've scheduled time off over next weekend and my family and I will be taking a vacation to FL to visit family and pick up my new toy. Hopefully it'll work out and I can check out some of the riding my brother(Ryanstones) sends me pictures of all the time. If it doesn't, sorry Bubba, have to see you another time.
Patrick, it's good to see someone on the dealer side participating, it's good to see it from both sides and I think we all appreciate your experience.
Also, gotta' say I Love the '03 LE. Good graphics. IMO, the dale has some ugly plastic, but once you take it off, there isn't a quad to match it! As they say "It's what's underneath that counts"!!! Another big factor for me is that it's made in the USA!! Red, White, and Blue! Stars and Stripes forever!!!

Nrath,
Sounds like the same place I got mine from. I was at the factory with him late April, and they did have 2 almost ready to go with his name on them. That sucks about the delay, he was pissed since he drove up from Florida to pick them up....and they weren't done.
I'll be stopping at his shop the week of the 17th to do some riding with him.

Well, from what I was told this evening, the refurb program is history. If you haven't got it, you prolly' ain't gonna' get it. The last 3 have left the factory. They went out with Arvins on front and a cable clutch, but all the other upgrades. I guess the good word is that one of the three has my name on it!! It has arrived at the dealership. Unfortunately, I can't see it till next Friday- that 600 mile thing! He said he thought it was one of his new ones until he looked at the title and later noticed the clutch. I'm pretty bummed about the shocks, that was a big point for me. Kind of neutral on the clutch after someone was talking about how he and some if his racing buddies had seeveral of them fail repeatedly. Soo, that's my news. Terry said he had 3, I knoow 2 are sold, may be one still available.

I already have mine. I'm a sales rep for a powder metal company, the south is my region. I flew down to Florida and visited some customers....rented a 19.95 Ford Ranger 2wd....and made the long trek back to PA.
I ended up with the Ohlins, hydraulic clutch, new plastic and new Holeshots. I haven't had any trouble with the clutch yet.
Terry's a good guy. Did you get a exhaust or anything else? His prices CANNOT be beat! Now's the time to get em, he'll put them on for free, and map it for free also.
